Management
experience
Acted
for over 30 years in companies' management and expert positions in finance,
real estate, investment, market research, broker, development company,
communications and distribution related lines of business. First commercial
experiences already in 1960s in "E" Chain. In early 1970s in commercial
management in "E" Chain. In 1976 founded Pakastetalo Ltd. and worked there as
CEO and the main owner till mid 1980s. In 1986 acquired the newspaper
"Länsi-Uusimaa" and the portfolio of distribution company SDR. Founded Janton
Ltd. and worked there as CEO and board member in 1992-94 and after that as the
Chairman of the Board and the main owner of the Janton Ltd. for ten years. The
CEO and professional investor in Herttayhtiöt Group, which Kai Mäkelä owns and
which concentrates in consulting and security trading.
Board
experience
Has
worked in companies' boards for over 30 years. Has participated in the listing
of six Finnish enterprises and their board activities as well as in board
activities of dozens of others Finnish companies. Has been Chairman of the
Board and board member in numerous boards and has managed board development
projects.

Personal
characteristic and other activities
Management
training program in "E" Institute (1974-75), Degree of Accountant authorized by
the Chambers of Commerce of Finland (1980), Master of Science (Economics)
(1995). Won the Finnish Championship in European Management Game in 1980 and 1986. In the
same years represented Finland in European Championship and won bronze.
Furthermore, won the Championship in Scandinavian Management Games and two silvers in Scandinavian Business
Tournament in 1982 and 1986. Has been developing own business game "Mix", which
has been used for years in Helsinki School of Economics, JOKO and different
business colleges as well as in many listed companies and international
enterprises.
Among
hobbies there are golf, orienteering, philately and numismatics.
