Boardman International Working Group

The group was established in December 2023. It focuses on developing “Boardman Membership,” an English-language membership designed for international executives working in Finland or in Finnish companies.

The group organizes events and Boardman’s CG and Board Work in Finland Training designed for international executives. It runs the Board Buddy Program, actively collaborates with other member forums at Boardman, promotes the use of English in board work and influences the internationalization of board work and leadership on a broader scale.

The purpose of the group is to increase the competitiveness and foster diverse perspectives of Finnish companies by exposing their boards to international talent, defined as individuals who were not born Finnish nationals.

In February 2024, the group hosted an event where international executives living in Finland were invited. During the event, group member Maria Krajewska-Olkkonen presented the survey results on international board members conducted by Boardman.

The group meets six times a year, with additional work conducted in small groups between meetings. Given the international composition of the members, most meetings are held via Teams connections.

The group is chaired by Boardman partner Tuomo Haukkovaara. The group’s members are Rashmi Kasat, Michael Hardy, Maria Krajewska-Olkkonen, Steven ter Horst, Jan Feller, Mia Ahlström and Lars Hellström. The group’s secretary is Karoliina Kuhalampi.
