Speakers of the module 1
MANNE AIRAKSINEN is a Senior Advisor in the Roschier’s Corporate Advisory and Corporate Compliance & Investigations practices. He also specializes in public M&A and equity capital markets. Manne has extensive experience in a broad range of corporate issues and has been a key person in the development of the Finnish Companies Act. He regularly acts for listed companies in a high-end boardroom advisory role and is recognized as one of the leading experts in his field in Finland.
WILLEM SHOEBER works as a Non-Executive Director and as an independent consultant. He was a Member of the Board of Neste Corporation between 2013 – 2020 and Societatea Energetica “Electrica” S.A. between 2016 – 2019. He worked as Chair of the Board of Directors of EWE Turkey Holding AŞ, Bursagaz AŞ and Kayserigaz AŞ 2010–2015. In his career Willem has held several managerial positions for example at EWE AG, swb AG and Royal Dutch Shell Group’s companies. He is a Member of the Supervisory Board of Gasunie N.V. since 2013.
LORI JO CROSS is a business executive with over 35 years of experience, specializing in Medical Technology and Life Sciences. She served as the Group President of ADVent, Datex-Ohmeda/Instrumentarium prior to being acquired by GE Medical. As a Founder of MindSpan Consulting, Lori now consults with global clients on strategic innovation and leadership development. Lori is also currently a Non-Executive Board Director of Finnish family-owned companies Fastems and Electrosonic and previously she was also a member of Ahlstrom’s Board of Directors.
RIKU ASIKAINEN is an experienced serial entrepreneur, angel investor and venture capitalist. He has been a founder, a director and an investor in almost 50 companies; of which more than 10 successfully exited. He was the Vice President of the Board of EBAN, Co-Founder and Chairman of FiBAN. Today Riku acts as a Founding Partner at Evli Growth Partners – later stage venture fund. Riku is also serving as a Boardman alumni Board member.
TARU LINDEMAN has been working as the Managing Director for Boardman since 2011. She has led almost fifty board work development programs and trainings, carried through multiple board evaluation programs, organized several international excursions and conferences, and arranged hundreds of events about ownership, entrepreneurship, leadership, management, strategies and business trends. She previously worked more than 10 years as a supply chain and senior management consultant for differed industries.
LAURA RAITIO works as a Non-Executive Director. Currently she is the Chair of the Board of Directors in Raute Corporation and Helsinki Deaconess Institute. Additionally, she a Member of Board in Solidium Oy, Suominen Corporation, HOK-Elanto and Heltti Oy. She was a Board Member in Neste Corporation for 8 years 2011-2019. Laura Raitio has worked as CEO of Diacor Medical Services and prior that she held a position of Executive Vice President in Ahlstrom Corporation and was Member of the Executive Management Team of the company. Laura is the Chair of the Board and Partner of Boardman Ltd.
Speakers of the module 2
MATTI VIKKULA has worked as CEO for Scandinavian Biogas, a Nasdaq First North Premier listed company in Stockholm, since 2011. He has operated as CEO or Business Director for over 30 years, and has been partner at PwC Management Consulting. He was a member of the Executive Board in Elisa and worked as Elisa’s Consumer Business Executive 2005-2007. Vikkula has acted as Chairman or Member of the Board for several private and listed companies: Efore Plc, iTaito Ltd, Trainers House Plc/Satama Interactive Plc, Ruukki Group Oyj, Adison Oy and Kristina Cruises.
PETER THERMAN is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Hartwall Capital and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Peter has been working actively in the family business network for more than 15 years (Vice Chairman of the Finnish Family Business Association 2015-2018 and as a member of the Board of FBN-International 2011-2019) and has promoted family business opportunities in Finland and internationally. Peter has had a multidisciplinary career in various positions, mainly in Scandinavia.
JUHA PELTOLA has been the managing partner of Vaaka Partners since 2006. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at McKinsey & Company, focusing on international growth strategies. He has also worked with acquisition finance at OP Group, and was a co-founder of Valuatum, a start-up still active in equity and debt research solutions. Juha Peltola served previously as a member of the Board as well as the Chairman of the Finnish Venture Capital Association and he he served as a member of the midmarket council at Invest Europe between 2015-2021.
Speakers of the module 3
JANNE RAJALAHTI has over 30 years’ experience of providing audit services to both global and local clients in various industries. His key experience includes M&A transactions, group restructurings and advising fast growing companies. In addition, Janne has strong experience of capital market transactions including initial public offering (IPO) proceedings at both the Finnish and London stock exchanges. He is Partner at PwC Finland and has also acted as PwC Finland’s Chair of the Board since 2019.
SIRPA JUUTINEN is a Partner in the Sustainability & Climate Change team for PwC Finland. With more than 20 years of experience in the development of sustainability, she is one of the Finnish pioneers. In her projects, Sirpa has advised executive boards and Boards of Directors about sustainability as a strategic theme, and also led tens of assurance engagements on sustainability reporting. Sirpa has gained experience also about ESG related matters in DDs and IPOs being a trusted advisor for private equity, asset managers and families.
MIREL LEINO-HALTIA is Professor of Practice at Aalto University School of Economics. Furthermore, she is a Board Member and the Chairman of the Audit Committee of Teleste Corporation and Euroclear Finland Ltd, and also a Board Member of LocalTapiola (LähiTapiola) Mutual Life Insurance Company, LocalTapiola Asset Management Ltd, and LocalTapiola Alternative Investment Funds Ltd. Moreover, she serves as the Chairman of the Board of Indufor Ltd. Mirel Leino-Haltia worked several years as a Partner for PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers Oy).
