Boardman’s Management Research Network’s 75th Anniversary
Management Research Network (LJT) was founded in 1949 to facilitate networking between executives across different industries, and to promote dialogue between business and research. In 2008, the Network joined Boardman, and is now known as Boardman’s Management Research Network (Boardman LJT).
The seminar ”Leadership for Tomorrow – Collaboration between Owners, Board and Management” will take place on 4th of September at 16.00-19.15 at Aalto University, address: Ekonominaukio 1, Espoo.

INTRODUCTION OF THE SPEAKERS
MORTEN HUSE is Professor Emeritus at BI Norwegian Business School. His main topics of interests are boards of director, gender issues, and scholarship. Several labels have been linked to his name, including “Human side of Corporate Governance”, “Value Creating Boards”, “The Golden skirts professor”, and “The Champagne Method”. He is described through his mottoes: “Life is too short to drinking bad wine” and “Mentoring Champions for Change”. He is one of the most cited social science professors in Norway. However, during the recent decade his research is mostly leaned on an introspection approach and a criticism of the academic POP-culture. Morten Huse has been President of the European Academy of Management (EURAM) and board member of the Academy of Management (AOM). Since 1994 he has regularly been teaching at universities in Finland. His recent books include Diversity and Corporate Governance (2023), Resolving the Crisis in Research (2020) and The Value Creating Board (2018). HENRI SCHILDT is a Professor of Strategy with a joint appointment at the Aalto School of Business and the School of Science. His research interests span digitalization, strategic change, and social sustainability. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal, and his book The Data Imperative was published by Oxford University Press in 2020. He is currently co-leading the research project ”Smarter Work with Generative Artificial Intelligence” that examines how companies are integrating large language models in their internal processes and services.
HANNA MARIA SIEVINEN, D.Sc. (Economics and Business Administration) has extensive board experience with both private and public companies. She currently serves as Vice Chair and Chair of the Audit Committee on the board of Taaleri Oyj, Vice Chair and Chair of the Audit Committee on the board of Koskisen Oyj, and as a member of the board of Aalto University. She has also served as Chair at Futurice Oy, Vice Chair of Cinia Oy and Chair of the Audit Committee at Veikkaus Oy. Additionally, she works as an independent corporate advisor and serves as a member of Takeover Board of Securities Market Association, Listing Committee of Nasdaq Helsinki, and the advisory board of Kaartokulma and Onni Rannikko funds in Kaute Foundation. She started her career as an investment banker with Enskilda Securities in 1997, and after moving to Nokia Corporation in 2000, she held several leadership positions in Finance, Strategy, Marketing and Sales in various countries until 2014. Her current research focuses on strategic renewal, corporate governance and decision-making in complex settings.
LAURI RATIA, M.Sc. (Engineering) has over 50 years of experience in paper, engineering, electronics and construction material industries in companies like Stora Enso, UPM Kymmene, Nokia, Kone and Lohja Rudus, where he worked as CEO in 1994-2007. Since 2007 Ratia has been active in many different board positions including VR, Sponda, Paroc and Stockmann. Currently he serves as Chair of the Board of Terrafame Ltd. Ratia has been involved in many M&A’s and integration processes in Finland and abroad. The range of executed M&A’s is wide. The industries and company sizes have varied from small supplementary acquisitions to large international mergers. Ratia operated as venture capitalist in the beginning of the 90’s and has ever since been in many advisory roles. Ratia is widely experienced in leading and implementing strategic changes and working in Audit and Compensation Committees.
MIKKO KOSONEN (PhD) has a long experience of strategic management in both private and public sector organizations. He was actively involved in building the Nokia success story between 1984-2007 (Chief Strategy and Information Officer 1996-2005) and Finland’s renewal capacity as the President of Sitra between 2008-2020. Mikko has written several articles and books on strategic management and the strategic agility concept he created together with Professor Yves Doz in 2007 has been widely adopted by companies across the world. His most recent book on Viability Advantage together with Timo Santalainen focuses on sustainable growth through ecosystems and public-private collaboration. Mikko is currently the chairman of Aalto University and Kordelin foundation and an advisor to several private and public sector organizations.
Professor ILKKA NIEMELÄ was appointed as the President of Aalto University in 2017. Before that he served as the Provost of Aalto University since 2014. He is a professor of computer science widely known of his work in knowledge representation and constraint programming. He has held visiting positions at SRI International, University of Koblenz-Landau, and National ICT Australia.
He chairs Unifi – Council of Rectors of Finnish Universities as well as Digivision 2030 programme. He has also served as the President of Cluster, a consortium of 12 elite European universities in science and engineering, and the chair of Nordic 5 Tech, a strategic alliance of the five leading technical universities in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
SATU KOSKINEN is the Chair of the board of Boardman’s Management Research Network, and a Partner and board member of Boardman. She also chairs the board of HY+ and has board memberships in several companies. Satu has a PhD in Management and Leadership. In her PhD study, Satu examined dyadic leadership practices and trust development in the CEO-Chair relationship, and the process leading to CEO dismissal in Finnish limited liability companies. She is the author of the book ”Vuorovaikutus hallitustyön ytimessä” (Boardman, 2020).
