Alumnus: Recruiting International Board Members webinar

A webinar on “Recruiting International Board Members to Finnish Boards” for Boardman Alumnus on Wednesday, October 28^th, 2.00-3.30 pm.

The idea of this webinar is to discuss and share experiences about recruiting international board members to Finnish listed, family and growth companies. The questions and themes to be discussed include: Why should Finnish boards consider adding international members; what to consider before the search and what does the recruitment processes entail; what are the implications to the board work; and what are the experiences from an international board member’s perspective?

Introduction of the Guest Speakers

Susanne Suhonen is a member of Russell Reynolds Associate’s global Board and CEO Advisory Partners group. She works with senior executive and non-executive leadership teams for clients across geographies and sectors, leveraging more than 20 years of professional services and consulting experience to provide market-leading insights, assessments and talent development. Susanne specializes in building effective boards by focusing on board performance, culture and leadership succession, as well as board refreshment in both for profit and nonprofit organizations. She also has a particular focus on diversity, equity and inclusion strategy assessment and formulation. Susanne is based in London.

Anders Silwer, Member of the Board, Nixu Oyj
Professional experience: Air Force Inspector 2008-2011, Chief of Joint Operations 2011-2012 and Chief Joint Training and Development 2013-2017 in the Swedish Defence Force. Member of the Board at Advenica AB and Swedish Fortifications Administration. Mr Silwer has a long career in the Swedish Defence Forces and is still a reserve officer. After retiring from active duty, he established his own consulting company, Anders Silwer AB. His contribution to the Nixu Board includes his extensive knowledge of public administration in Sweden, a wide network of contacts and his interest in the rising importance of cyber defense.

Philip Aminoff, MSc (Econ), MBA (INSEAD), is Chairman of Helvar Merca and Helectron, Deputy Chairman of Veho, Helvar, Fastems and Electrosonic, Member of the Supervisory Board of LocalTapiola, Member of the Board of MTC Flextek, Antti Ahlström Perilliset and Boca Holding. He is also Chairman of the Finnish Family Firms Association (Perheyritysten Liitto), President of the German-Finnish Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Nomination Committee of Directors Institute Finland, and Partner of Boardman.

Riku Asikainen, Founder, Evli Growth Partners, Member of the Boardman Alumnus Board is an entrepreneur, angel investor and growth hacker. He founded his first company while still in high school and sold it 15 years later as one of Finland’s leading Internet bookstores. Since then, Mr Asikainen has been a founder, investor and active board member of more than 35 companies. He was one of the founders of FiBAN, which is a Finnish Business Angel Network, and also acted as its chairman for a few years. He has been involved in founding the Startup Fund, ”products” of which are SLUSH, Europe’s largest tech conference and Startup sauna, a leading business incubator.
