Manne Airaksinen

Professional history and board experience

Manne Airaksinen (Doctor of Law) has worked for 34 years in various legal roles, most notably as a Senior Adviser of Legislative Affairs at the Finnish Ministry of Justice, and at Roschier Attorneys, where he served for many years as a partner specialising in corporate law, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions. Airaksinen has advised several major listed companies, participated in numerous significant corporate transactions, and has chaired countless general meetings of listed companies. He is widely regarded as the father of the current Finnish Limited Liability Companies Act.

Airaksinen has lectured and continues to lecture at major universities in Finland and the Nordic countries (currently at Aalto University). He has authored numerous books and articles (including the leading commentary on the Finnish Limited Liability Companies Act, co-authored with two others) and has served as a Professor of Practice. He has also acted as an arbitrator and as chair of arbitral tribunals, as well as being a member, deputy member, and chair of the Board of Auditors.

Airaksinen has served as chair or member in numerous working groups across various fields of law in Finland, the EU, and the OECD, most notably as the chair of the working group tasked with reforming the Finnish Limited Liability Companies Act from 2001 to 2003. He continues to act as an expert on corporate law for the Ministry of Justice.

Airaksinen has been a board member of publicly listed companies Talentum Plc and Satama Plc, as well as of dozens of private companies and organizations, including the law firm Roschier. He currently serves on the boards of the EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art Foundation, the Finnish National Theatre Foundation, and Tapiolan Honka ry, having previously served as chair of the latter for seven years. Airaksinen has extensive experience in board work from a legal perspective. He is also a long-standing member of the policy committee of the Directors’ Institute Finland (DIF).
